Lactation Policy

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that infants be breast-fed for the first year of life.  The benefits of this are numerous: higher IQ and reduced risk of sudden infant death syndrome, juvenile diabetes, childhood cancers, ear infections and obesity in later life, to name a few.  There are also significant workplace benefits when women who choose to breast-feed their children are supported and encouraged to do so.

At Sodexo it makes good business sense for us to support our employees who are nursing mothers.  At our headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD, we provide a state of the art Lactation Room.  For all of our employees who are nursing mothers we have a company wide Lactation Policy that requires our managers to support employees who are breast-feeding with flexibility in their schedule and where practical appropriate facilities to express milk.
