2011 Sodexo Occupational Health & Safety Poster Contest

Safety is vitally important in all aspects of every Sodexo employee's life, not just at work, but at home as well.


Enter Sodexo's 2011 Occupational Health & Safety Poster Contest!  

Sodexo announces the North American Health and Safety Poster Contest for the children of Sodexo employees and their relatives. Safe practices, behaviors, and actions are not just for the workplace. It is important to incorporate safety in every task we do whether on the job with our co-workers or at home with our families. Join in the effort to make safety the first priority in the workplace and at home.

Sodexo invites all young artists to enter the 2011 Health and Safety Poster Contest.

The contest is open to children, ages 6 to 17, and will be judged in four age groups: 6 - 8, 9 - 11, 12 - 14, and 15 - 17 year-olds. For each age group, there will be a total of three winners in each category; winners will receive $100, $75, and $50 gift cards for first, second, and third places respectively. All winning posters will be reproduced and used to illustrate the continuing importance of safety throughout Sodexo units.


Contest Rules:

  • The Sodexo Safety Poster Contest is open to the children and relatives of Sodexo employees who are between the ages of 6 and 17.
  • Posters should illustrate occupational workplace safe practices, behaviors, or actions (no food safety posters) used at Sodexo units that can also be used at home and include a title of the safe practice, behavior, or action depicted. Some examples might be: good housekeeping, wearing personal protective equipment, unplugging equipment before cleaning or servicing, storing chemicals properly, lifting safely, pushing instead of pulling carts, cleaning up spills, ladder safety, keeping stairways clear and using handrails, removing snow and ice from walkways, holiday safety at work, electrical safety, fire safety, carrying hot liquids safely, emergency evacuation plan, etc.
  • Only one entry per child will be considered.
  • All entrants must design and complete their posters independently.
  • Each entrant must fill out a Sodexo Release - Minor Form.

Entry Specifications:

The entry must meet the following specifications:

  • Size 8.5 x 11 either vertical or horizontal
  • Color or black & white entries are acceptable.
  • Any two-dimensional medium may be used (charcoal, watercolor, marker, cut & paste, etc)
  • Computer-generated drawings or photos will not be considered
  • All entries must include entrants name, age, address, phone number, and an official entry Standard Release - Minor form taped securely to the back of the poster.

Contest Deadline

Entries must be postmarked no later than June 3, 2011.  Winners will be announced during the month of June, which is National Safety Month.


Please Note:

  • Posters will not be returned; if you wish to have a copy of your work, take a photo or make a copy before sending.
  • Entrants agree to give Sodexo ownership of their artwork with the right to reproduce it should it be selected a winner.
  • Winners will be notified by phone and/or mail. 
  • Posters will be judged on originality, clarity of message, and quality of artwork by a panel of experts in the fields of communication and safety. Decision of the judges will be final.
